Horsehair and Rhododendren Raku Vessel
This vessel was thrown on the potter's wheel and fired in a raku kiln. As the vessel cooled, strands of horsehair were applied which creates the carbon designs seen in the photo. After cooling, the vessel was polished with several layers of micro-crystalline wax. The branch of rhododendron was attached with wire, after sanding, staining and polishing.
It measures about 6 " in diameter and 6 " height. With the added rhododendron, it measures about 13" across and 10" tall. It will hold 40 fl. oz. Since raku firing is not very hot, the vessel is not water-tight. Keep out of the elements and dust with a feather duster.

“Finding your Path” carries many interpretations. For me personally, I see the mother elephant in the middle, pushing a child in front of her and leading a child from behind. Directing, guiding, showing, dragging, deciding, knowing. The emotions of moving in sync with your children while seeking your path and allowing them to find their own path.

Finish description: antique wood / dark finish
Strength: the limited edition series are “strong” but still “fragile” given the extremities. Thus they are breakable because they are not solid metal. Handle with care.
